Nao World Cup
Fifa World Cup 2014

It’s here, it’s here, it’s FINALLY here! We’ve waited 4 years and today is the day our dreams come true as it is the first day of the World Cup 2014. Yes, ladies in gentleman today is the day we’ve been waiting four years for and today we are satisfied. This year Brazil will be the host country for the games with thousands of fans flocking to South America.  World Cup festivities kick off today at 4 PM EST with the opening ceremonies (yes, featuring Jennifer Lopez) and the opening match of the tournament with fan favorite Brazil playing against Croatia.

Next to the Olympics, the World Cup is the second most exciting international sports competition that has every sports fan from Alabama to Albania  buzzing. Being that the World Cup only happens once every four years, sports fans have ample time to get their war paint and team colors together. Soccer brings out some of the most loyal fans out of any sport and the World Cup brings them all together in one place.

Here in the U.S., “futbol” or soccer isn’t a sport we generally fan out over,  however soccer is a HUGE deal in other parts of the globe.  If you’re missing out on the soccer obsession and why the World Cup is such a big deal, check out this video from the guys at “In a Nutshell” for a great explanation of what the World Cup is and how it works.

If after you’ve seen the video you feel like Pelé and want to keep up with all the World Cup enthusiasm, be sure to follow us on Twitter for all the up-do-the-minute news about the 2014 World Cup action.
